research - based project investigates&nbsp;the social, spatial and political mechanisms that occur within the temporary housing and living conditions in asylum seekers' centres in the Netherlands. The emphasis is on gaining insight into the influence that such mechanisms can have on urban development policy regarding the construction and design of these types of facilities. It speculates on the domestic environment that may emerge through processes of listening, tracing and drawing together with those living on the front line of precariousness. It introduces diverse research methods to bring forward lived experiences often overlooked by urban and housing policies. &nbsp; Through this work, I developed The Art of Invitation, a participatory practice implemented through workshops in several asylum seeker centres across the Netherlands. Using drawing and mapping, the workshops invited participants to reflect on claiming space by becoming hosts, turning these reflections into small, context-specific actions to foster agency within temporary living environments. The practice raised questions around public and private space, identity, and belonging, while exposing policy gaps that overlook the social and spatial needs of asylum seekers. In response, I proposed a new planning chapter for municipalities titled To Be a Host in a Hosting Country, offering guiding principles for designing refugee centres grounded in care and community. This proposal comes to life not only with a new wording but also with illustrations that show how the architectural drawing is no longer exclusively about spatial configurations but includes traces and objects of everyday use and patterns. The hope is that The Art of Invitation will constitute a base for the allocation of asylum seekers’ centres with the presence of a communal space to practice hospitality. <img width="5477" Archaeology on the Move aims to investigate this question using the Marine Terrein as an angle of exploration. Thanks to its possibilities to work as a connector and as creator of narratives, archaeology combines in one precise place different times, stories, and paths. It represents a network that conveys many different aspects of an urban environment. The Marine terrein works exactly in this way but its times, stories and places are unknown by its users. The urgency of disclosing them is the core of Archaeology on the Move&nbsp;using walking and storytelling as research methods. This not only provides interaction between users but creates a process of regeneration and understanding of the local identities of the Marine Terrein. Archaology becomes then a study of the historic, present and future of mankind based on artefacts, found underground as well as above ground. Artefacts being objects, stories, systems and traces of the development of the city. Archaeology is about preserving, telling and creating narratives. Through walking, we negotiate conflict and recompose narratives: the conflict between the visible and the invisible, between what is valued and what remains intangible. This process invites a different understanding of spatiality. An archaeology of feelings emerges – one that describes space through time, tracing personal contributions to the site’s ongoing story. This organization is a network of artists, facilitators, volunteers, children, young people, and parents who run workshops and art projects at Asylum Seekers’ Centers in the Netherlands. Together, we discussed our plans, considered possible scenarios, and formulated our approach. However, stepping into that space and meeting people directly felt as though everything had shifted. Moments of Familiarity became a set of workshops we co-created with the participants, without a strict program or schedule. Through simple exercises, the workshops create a space to reflect on what intimacy means, how it can be unraveled, and its profound importance in everyday life – even in the context of survival amidst restrictions and controls. While we arrived with a few initial guidelines to structure the workshop, we found ourselves following rather than guiding, allowing the participants to shape the process. The workshop aims to research, explore and share diverse ways of understanding the domestic environment through personal stories and lived experiences. During the workshops we aimed to explore alternative ways of defining home environments. Participants engaged in discussions on guest-host dynamics, gender relations, and domestic hierarchies. Using the lino technique on a shared fabric, they presented, re-imagined, or redesigned their living conditions. Over the final sessions they reflected on the stories and used embroidery to connect them. Working collectively emphasized the creative strength of communities and highlighted the importance of addressing such themes together. The resulting fabric, now a tablecloth, serves as a tangible representation of the community’s shared stories.
